Synthesis is engaged in three areas of research - Application Enhancement; External Usage of Data; and Developing countries.
Synthesis has been adding new features on a continuous basis, being able to out-innovate many of the larger commercial literature review software vendors. We apply the latest computer science and health services methods, technologies and algorithms into Synthesis in order to solve not only our own research problems, but the research problems our customers are experiencing as well.
Synthesis is heavily researching how the data extracted from Synthesis can be better utilized for advanced analysis. Examples of this include the use of meta-data being used in our analysis and the use of external statistical applications such as R to improve the analysis.
Synthesis is actively engaged in how literature reviews can be performed in developing countries to help improve evidence based decision making. There are many issues that need to be addressed, such as limited access to publication (i.e. closed pay walls), internet connectivity bandwidth constraints, remote training and support and many others.
Our first two test countries are Uganda and the Philippines.
