Supported Reference File Import Formats

Synthesis can import text files containing reference information in a number of meta data tag formats.

Format	Description
OVID Medline (National Library of Medicine, Medline, PubMed, PubMed Central)	Ovid Medline database export format and slight variations used for PubMed and PubMed Central. See http://ospguides.ovid.com/OSPguides/medline.htm
ISI	Thompson Scientific format used most notably with Web of Science.
RIS	Research Information Systems tag format, exported by services such as IEEE Xplore, Scopus, ACM, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink and others. Almost identical to RIS format.
EndNote	Standard export format from EndNote reference management software. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EndNote
BibTex	A generic format supported by a number of tools. This format is often used when importing Grey Literature. See http://www.bibtex.org/About/
