Importing References from Ovid Medline

You can export Ovid Medline searches from their web page and import the references into Synthesis. This procedure explains this process. Note that Ovid provides access to several reference databases, including Medline, Embase, Global Health, and others.

Perform this task in order to export references fom the Ovid Medline/Embase website, and import them into Synthesis.

1. Access the Ovid Medline/Embase search page at http://ovidsp.ovid.com/
2. Enter search term in the search field at the top of the web page (e.g. "patient flow")
   1. Examine results
3. Under Results Tools click on the All checkbox in order to select all references to export
4. An Export Citation pop-up will open
5. Under Export To dropdown, select Reference Manager
6. Under Select Field to Display choose Complete Reference radio button
7. Click Export Citation(s) button
8. This creates a file called UNKNOWN
9. Import the file, see Importing References from Files
